June 19 — R.O.C.K. IN THE U.S.A. (A SALUTE TO ’60s ROCK), John Cougar Mellencamp (1985)

IMG_1887Around Omaha, in the tailgating area, and especially at the ballpark, the musical palate gets to sample a little of everything. If you could plot it all on a diagram, the mean or the average would be classic rock, middle America. Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen.

If that’s not your cup of tea, sandwich it around an organ rendition of “She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain,” some Ramones and Neil Diamond, sprinkle it over 23,000 fans of all ages, and you’ve got yourself a good baseball-party mix.
