LOST IN THE NOISE

February 2 — FEARLESS, Pink Floyd (1971)

img_1624The 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s “Animals” album, and the analogous conversations to today’s political environment, has led me into the deep end of the band’s catalog. Pink Floyd’s creeping sound always came from a dark, hollow place; there isn’t much daylight in their world. On “Fearless,” not even an upbeat lyric like “just wait a while for the right day” — or a Liverpool soccer crowd singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at the end — can pull the mood out of the shadows.
