January 30 — LOOK AT US, John Prine (2016)

img_1620Six years ago today, Lauren and I met on a blind date, courtesy of our mutual friend Tracy Harlow. “You’ll like her,” Tracy told me. “She’s liberal and smart and funny.” We met for lunch at the Brady Tavern in downtown Tulsa. I noticed her eyes and her posture. She noticed I was late. But it got better. Tonight, I told Luke that six years ago, a friend wanted me to meet someone. “Do you know who that was?” I asked Luke. “Who?” he said. “Mamma,” I said. And he smiled. Look at us.
