October 3 — THE WAY HOME, Rich Robinson (2016)

img_1183Today’s “Walking the Floor” podcast featured an interview with Dave Cobb, the young Nashville producer who has worked with Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton and other highly regarded roots artists over the last few years. One of Cobb’s most recent projects is “Southern Family,” a compilation and concept album about growing up in the South. It was inspired by “White Mansions,” a 1978 album documenting the lives of southerners during the Civil War. “Southern Family” closes with a soulful, spiritual note featuring a founding member of the Black Crowes, backed by a small black gospel choir.
