Calexico continues serving as my musical home-base here in Santa Fe, leading me to everyone from Spanish guitarist Tommy Guerrero to Brooklyn-based Inner Banks, and to old alternative-rock favorites like the Shins and former Clash leader Joe Strummer — who, astonishingly, has been gone 14 years.
