Today’s independent music scene in Omaha wouldn’t exist without tender-voiced Conor Oberst. He’s been kicking around the city’s underground for 20 years, and finally broke through with Bright Eyes in the late ’90s. With his success, Oberst invested wisely and generously. He started the label Saddle Creek Records, invested in local bars and live music venues, and signed and produced other artists. And, he became friends and regularly played with Jenny Lewis, who invited Oberst to accompany her on this Traveling Wilburys cover.
