LOST IN THE NOISE

May 18 — COLUMBUS STOCKADE BLUES, Doc Watson (1975)

Guy Clark left behind scores of admirers and legions of influence. At this moment, more than one person is surely at his kitchen table, guitar and pencil in hand, trying to equal the master. But Guy had idols, too. In “Dublin Blues,” he draws a parallel between a Doc Watson song, and two other artistic masterworks: “I have seen the David, the Mona Lisa too, and I have heard Doc Watson play Columbus Stockade Blues.”
