LOST IN THE NOISE

March 26 — KEYBOARD SONATA IN B MINOR: ADANTE, Domenico Scarlatti (about 1750)

imageDomenico Scarlatti was an Italian composer who spent much of his life in the service of Portuguese and Spanish royal families. He was prolific, but it didn’t come until late. Most of his 555 piano sonatas were written between the ages of fifty-seven and sixty-two (which gives me great hope for doing something magnificent starting in about five years). All this I know from the first few pages of “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running,” an essay and journal-style book about running, writing and life, from novelist Haruki Murakami.
