Gratefully and mercifully — yet slowly and surely — I have returned to running. I was out for six weeks, the longest in my twenty years of running. The doctor gave me some meds and instructions for yoga-like stretching, as well as the go-ahead to start slowly. I’m not surprised how I missed it. What surprised me is how much, specifically, I missed the pre-sunrise runs alone through the neighborhood, and tuning to satellite radio, a podcast or streaming radio, for undiscovered gems like this.
