September 19 — I WAN’NA BE LIKE YOU, Los Lobos (1988)

img_1396Many years ago I had a cassette version of “Stay Awake,” a Disney tribute album with stellar performances by the Replacements (“Cruella De Ville”), Sinead O’Connor (“Some Day My Prince Will Come”) and James Taylor (“The Second Star to the Right”). The album is out of print and not available on Spotify, but some of the indivisible tracks are available on other compilations. This morning while in Santa Fe, Luke discovered the 1967 movie “The Jungle Book,” a childhood favorite of mine. “Stay Awake” featured this jewel of a cover, which served as a reminder of how much I loved the music in that movie.
