This morning I woke up, scrolled through Twitter while stretching for my run, and started thinking about Jason Isbell. He was scheduled to play the Zoo Amphitheater with Wiliie Nelson and Alison Krausse last night. But someone in Willie’s band supposedly became ill. The show was canceled, but Isbell threw together a stand-alone gig at a small venue in Bricktown.
A friend was there and posted how special the show was. So that’s what I cued up as I sat out on my run. No other album has moved me more in the last five years. “I’ve heard love songs make a Georgia man cry / On the shoulder of somebody’s Saturday night.”
