Funny what you discover when you’re only half paying attention. Lauren and I tonight decided we’re due for a date with the Blue Door. Checking its calendar against ours, the name Parker Millsap appears on February 8. Then his name popped up on Facebook, a friend listening to him in Dallas. Turns out he’s from down the road in small-town Purcell, and just shy of 21 years old. He has traveled and played with John Fullbright and Hayes Carll, was influenced by Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Earl Keen and Tom Waits. And here we sit listening to this old soul in a boy’s body. We’re ordering tickets tomorrow.
